GRAVEYARD aka the locked basement LOL
[ You're dead. Either you were ousted and seemed as an ally of the Bad Badger, or the actual allies of the Bad Badger actually got to you.
You remember dying. If you were already dead prior to this whole game... well, you're alive again.
Your death may have been terrible. Poison, being stabbed multiple times, blunt trauma to the head, hanged... whatever. You can still feel the pain.
But... Where are you? You see white walls around you. You're in a hospital...? You're in a room, but there's no one else but you and a man in a blue costume. He doesn't want to reveal his real head, so he hides behind a mask. A badger wearing a blue jester's hat.
And... another person? Has that other person been there all along?
Then you remember being in a mansion. Was that all a dream? You try to figure it out on your own, but you can't seem to come up with an answer. If by any chance you look into the badger's empty black eyes, you might feel like you're being taken to a completely different place. It's as if you can see the mansion again. You can see the people talking, but if you try to call out, nothing happens. They can't hear you.
You avert your gaze from the badger, and those images disappear.
There's so much happening. Pain, and this crazy badger.
You, on the other hand, aren't wearing a blue costume. You have a white dress on, with an opening at the back. That was definitely not what you were wearing... or was it?
You have so many questions. But at least you're not alone. Someone can answer those questions for you. ]

[ NOTE Your characters will be able to see the events happening in the game while in the graveyard as long as they're looking at the Proto Badger. They cannot participate in any of the polls, or try to converse with anybody that isn't in this room. ]

He said he was an attorney, a claim which I thought sounded far-fetched, so I asked to see his attorney's badge, and he didn't have one. At least that he'd show me.
No defense attorney doesn't have one of those! So, I thought he was a fraud.

...Oh. Yeah, probably. Kahk.
[nods, that makes complete sense]
Well, whatever. His touchy-feely-ness didn't win any points with me. The 'bad badgers' might just win at this rate.

Yeah... whoever flipped the vote back there really dropped the ball.
--Though. Win, lose, the prize is probably going to be a one-way ticket to burny-town for all of us. Kahk-kahk-kahk.

You don't think so? Thing doesn't seem to realize it's dead itself...
No way is he gonna let us scamper off after all this.
no subject
I do think so. And now, with De Killer inevitably joining us soon, I can't even hope for revenge.
no subject
...sss. The butler guy? He's... someone important?

Kaaaaahk. So I was on the nose with the hired assassin bit...
...Listen. What if there was a way to get us out of here? Hypothetically speaking. You could go back to your prison cell, the vengeful spirits could go back to being dead, I could go back to my newspaper, and we all are happy living our happy little lives. Or, unlives.

Obviously if there were a way to get out of here and back to my cell, that's all well and good to me. I'm not inclined to kill anyone who isn't a threat to me, post-mortem revenge and badger brainwashing aside.

Here's what I'm thinking...
The badger-thing can obviously force us to act on some compulsion, right? Otherwise you never would've just gone and got your hands dirty with Mr. Gavin and the Ambassador-guy. You would've just run off.
Somehow you did it all while I was dozed off. Why didn't I help? Maybe because I'm not a 'bad badger'? Or maybe because it knows... uh, murdering's not in me.
Then back at the house... when we all start to wonder "why are we bothering with this game?" It shows us a mirror of Mr. Justice getting tortured, looking like how we look right now, with the threat of him getting worse if we don't play along.
Why do that? If it can affect someone mentally... it could just... force us to play, and not question it. Sss. Conclusion: there's got to be limits to what it can make us think we want to do.
I was getting tired but couldn't sleep because I was freaked out from being locked up with you and Scarface. So, it convinced me to sleep. Meanwhile, you both were feeling antsy and vindictive and it gave you a chance to let off some steam. In both cases, it played to desires we were already having...
--What if we could override it, somehow, giving us the willpower to do something else when it opens the door again? If we can't get it open ourselves, that's the only chance, really.

Or maybe we really are dead. We died, those corpses up there are the "real," original us, and whatever form we exist in now is created by and under the badger's control.
no subject
Kaaaahk... okay, there's a lot of maybes! Let's work off the ones where we have a chance to do something: that means starting by assuming we're not dead!
--Unless you think we can just go repossess our corpses.

[sighs]
But fine, fine. Maybe De Killer can pull something off...
...Don't call him that to his face, by the way. He doesn't like it. His name is "John Doe."
no subject
R-right... Kaahk. Good thing I didn't take his picture...
Maybe something that would overwhelm our senses could do it. A loud noise, or a bright flash of light, or... anything!
[sudden turn to Maya Fey's direction] --Wait, that girl's a spirit medium, right? Maybe we can ask her how to get rid of a possession...
no subject
Oh please, those people are total scam artists.
no subject
...well, probably, but freak chance is better than no chance.
